Kdo je Jason Park
Who is Jason Park - english version
At first, our website released Jason's part as a flash news. As a result, everybody was suddenly posting Jason's part on facebook walls. His style of skateboarding is a little bit non-traditional and its good to see a fresh wind in todays' skateboarding. We decided to give Jason a space on our website and asked him some questions. You can read his interview below these lines and see his famous skatepark part as well as his street part.
Hi Jason, tell us something about yourself. You have appeared all of a sudden and it seems like not many people have heard about you, at least in Czech republic.
Hey what's up. I just turned twenty two, I'm half Japanese and half Korean, I'm from Kaneohe, Hawaii, and I like to skate.
And about skateboarding, how long have you been skating? What brought you to skateboarding?
I've been skating for around nine years, and I guess what got me started with skating was the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 video game haha. You know how when you beat the game with someone you can watch a short video of them skating? Those videos got me so hyped on skating, so that year I asked for a skateboard for my birthday from my parents and life's been awesome ever since.
How about hawaiian skateboarding? Can you describe the scene?
Skating in Hawaii is my favorite. The weather is always perfect for skating all year, the people are super nice and really laid back, and the skate scene is small enough down here that you don't really ever get tickets for skating. The skate parks down here are pretty small, but they are all so much fun. And there is a limited amount of street spots on the island, but there are so many fun spots and I love going street skating around Hawaii.
Who is the biggest inspiration for you in tricks inventing?
I don't really have a certain big inspiration for my tricks, I just get so many ideas from so many different videos. I watch a lot of skate videos in my free time [I love skate videos], and every video has something different to offer. I love any skating that is creative or fun, I always get hyped over seeing a new trick or an old spot skated in a new way.
What' s the craziest trick combination you have ever landed?
Haha I'm not too sure about that question, I've done a lot of weird stuff. I learned a few new tricks for that recent Kaneohe part, so maybe something from that.
Which trick in video Kaneohe was the hardest for you?
Since we wanted to get this video done as soon as possible, I didn't really spend too much time on any single trick. If I felt like a trick was worth it I would try it for a while, but if it started taking too long I would just forget about it and move on to the next trick. There were a few tricks that I wanted to film for this part that never ended up working out, but overall I was pretty happy with the footage that we got. The laser flip blunt was one of the last tricks that I filmed for the video, and I had never landed it before so that one felt good. Overall we just had a lot of fun filming for this video, luckily none of the tricks stressed me out too much.
Do you have a plan to do a street skate part?
I just finished filming a street part for my friend's video Ground Control last year, it premiered in Long Beach earlier this month. I flew up to California for a month and a half to film that part, and that would be my most recent street part. I'm actually in California right now, I flew up for a week to skate and be at the Ground Control premiere. Once I get back to Hawaii, I'll hopefully get started working on a new street part as soon as possible.
Have you ever been to Europe? Or to Czech Republic?
I never have, but I would love to! There are so many fun looking spots in Europe, and the skate scene up there looks awesome.
What do you know about Czech Republic, or about Czech skateboarding to be specific?
Very little honestly, since I'm all the way out in Hawaii I'm not too well informed about skating all over the world. I always love watching skating from other places though, and I'm sure there are a lot of sick skaters from that area.
Do you have any sponsors?
I ride for a local skate shop, 808 Skate. Their shop is awesome, and they've really helped me out a lot. Also, everyone who runs the shop is really nice and super supportive, you should definitely check them out if you're ever down here.
Any last words for our readers?
Hm, not really. I guess just keep skating fun and don't take it too seriously, that's the best way to do it.
Can you say it again in hawaian language?
Well, unfortunately I don't know too much Hawaiian besides the basics. So aloha and mahalo!
